I will present the EasyVVUQ framework for model validation, verification, and uncertainty quantification which is developed in the
VECMA project. As an example application, I will apply the framework to the atmospheric large eddy simulation model DALES, and discuss how uncertainty quantification can be valuable in different stages of model development. A traditional use of uncertainty quantification is to study the response of a model to uncertain physical parameters. In addition to this, we explore using uncertainty quantification on modeling choices such as the choice of parameterizations or advection schemes, and as a testing tool during model development.
